My Thoughts...Straight Out of the Box!

01 April 2007

Two years already

This Monday the 2nd of April is the second anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II. I find it hard to believe that it has already been two years since the massive events of the last days, death and funeral of this great Pontiff.

Pope Benedict will preside at a Mass in the Vatican to commemorate the anniversary. Last year 100 000 people turned up for the first anniversary Mass so the Vatican is expecting another large gathering. On the same day Cardinal Camillo Ruini, the vicar for the diocese of Rome, will formally conclude the first phase of the investigation in the cause for the late Pope's beatification.

How blessed we have been to have lived under the leadership of Pope John Paul for so many years. He left so much in the way of teaching that the Church continues to digest and live the wisdom he has brought to Christianity.

As a student of the Institite that he founded to teach marriage, family and sexuality I am especially grateful for the life of Pope John Paul and hope to spend my days bringing to catholics the joy of the teachings he left in his catechesis on The Theology of the Body.

Servant of God Pope John Paul - Pray for us.
