Registrations are about to close and if you have not registered to participate in World Youth Day (and especially if you live in Sydney) then now is the time!
World Youth Day is not just a day, it is not just a Mass, it is not just a chance to meet the Pope. It is a chance to encounter Jesus Christ and be in strengthened in faith by so many young people from around the world. It is for Catholics and for non catholics. We do so many things in life for this life but how often do we really go out of our way, go beyond the mere obligation of Sunday Mass to really encounter the Holy Spirit, to think about life after this life? WYD is not just about planning for eternal life though, it is about living this life more fully because we are more aware of the reason we live.
From Tuesday 15 July to Sunday 20 July the week is full of events and opportunities to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to have fun and to meet new people. It would be such a shame if you decided to miss out for the sake of the mundane, such as work (that's what holidays are for). Or maybe you've been reading the bad press we get in the media and think it just isn't going to happen. Believe me, this is going to be an amazing six days...look here for a basic outline. The Church has had bad press since a group of people decided to crucify Jesus. Get away from the negative vibes and get into the excitement. Don't miss out! I can't stress enough how great it will be. I just wish you all knew as much as I did and saw first hand the way everything is coming together and how powerful an experience this is going to be.
The thing is, we can put on the greatest youth event in the world and the Holy Spirit can touch the hearts of those there...but nothing will happen if you don't take the leap of faith and actually turn up! If you are turning up, that is great, are all your friends coming?
